About Us

This is a family operation. Owl Rock Farm is Nathan and Sage, our two young children, and the many friends and family who come to help out.

We like big trees and old apples. After many years working for some great orchard mentors we developed an affinity for a particular style of farm stewardship. Old trees and fruit varieties are a message from our collective agricultural past (particularly in the hilly, rocky small towns of New England) with a lot to teach us about resilience.

Big trees resist drought and disease. Old, regionally-developed varieties are often better adapted to our climate and the pests found here. Besides, they’re cool. I prefer working with big trees. They can take a few knocks and require a long-term vision. And the old apples taste great.

We bought this land in 2020 for the allure of big trees and the challenge of long-term renovation and gentle management. We want an orchard where our children and yours can play and grow.
